Carvers are Tina and Werner -
and music is their passion
It is Tina who is operating the lathe,
which is a masterpiece of German engineering. After
more than five years of experience with this newly invented
machine, she is so familiar with it’s feel that
she is able to operate it blindfolded, everything is
handmade.
Tina takes care of the lead-in/out grooves and the overall
appearance of your one-off record, final inspection
is accomplished under a magnifying glass and a microscope.
Nothing is beyond the audible range of Tina’s
ears as she can hear the bats communicating (no joke!)
that’s around 22 kHz.
Werner has over 15 years
of experience in the recording industry. He started
producing music in the mid 80’s with an Atari
computer in his parent’s basement and was into
Protools from Digidesign’s very beginning (around
1988 / Sounddesigner).
Unique II - a pop/dance
project he ran together with his partner Erwin - sold
more than one million records they produced, mixed and
mastered. For over a decade they've had various top
10 tracks in about 25 countries. Their remake of Matthew
Wilder’s ‘Break My Stride’ was #1
in more than ten countries, including Australia, New
Zealand, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, and Nicaragua.
Tina and Werner's own studio
is built around a vintage SSL 4000 console. As an electronics
engineer Werner refurbished the desk, that had been
previously installed in London’s Townhouse and
Matrix Studios, by himself.
Their minimal techy tracks are being played by various
DJs.
Tina and Werner are also designing analogue
recording equipment, especially circuits with valves.
Based on techniques that go back as far as the 1920’s
they are building equipment themselves.
And it surely will add sparkle and analogue warmth to
your everlasting dubplates. |
