Hints for maximum quality
Visible spaces: Please keep in mind that 2sec of space in
the audio material are equal to about 10sec of space on the
record - hence less total playing time.
Please send us one continuous file that sounds exactly as
you want the plate to be.
All spaces in correct lengths, all samples balanced in volume
(the loudest bit will define the overall volume of the record).
Trust your ears rather than the waveform on the screen.
As on all masters – please leave about 2-3dB headroom
and don’t use any maximising plugins.
Try not to exceed the maximum time as the extra deep grooves
will also consume more space on the plate.
Consider the order of your samples on the record, as the outer
grooves will ‘feel’ different than the inner ones.
Vocal samples have a lot of energy and do sound a lot better
at the beginning of a record.
They tend to come out distorted towards the center.
On a 33rpm record: You could
line up the starting points of your samples on your record
(in one straight line), by setting your sequencer to 133.33bpm.
Import your samples, so they all start at the beginning of
a bar. It doesn't matter if your samples are one, two or more
bars long - they will always line up. Then print/export/bounce
everything to one single file.
